Day's Walk Farm is a certified organic farm located in suburban Keilor on the banks of the Maribyrnong River. Farmer Paul founded the farm and has successfully turned it into a thriving enterprise growing a range of organic vegetables for farmers’ markets, restaurants and independent retailers. Paul is passionate about supporting other young people into pathways to running their own suburban farms.
Workshop Description
More and more people are getting interested in local food and turning organic growing into a career, but the barriers to entry can seem massive. In this workshop, Paul will discuss pathways into farming as a profession, including the challenges, opportunities and likely shifts in the market into the future. He'll share the tips and tricks he's learned through running Day's Walk Farm, and introduce you to some of the farm's interns who are gaining valuable medium-scale farm experience.
