Mareeba is a garden of magnificent exotic and Australian trees - many dating back to the late 1940s. They include a towering Sequoia, Dawn Redwood, Mexican Pine, Taxodiums and a range of fine oaks. There are maples, elms, birches, and cedars. Majestic Yellow Box are found in the farmyard, while Mahogany Gums, grand melaleucas and the twisting trunks of tea tree blend well.

More trees are gradually being planted throughout the garden, chosen for their attractiveness, their ability to complement the existing garden plantings and their robustness.

However, the garden is not just about trees. Roses feature throughout the garden beds close to the house; there is a ‘dry’ garden, a woodland garden where native and exotic shrubs lie beneath the sculptured trunks of the melaleucas and grevilleas; and spring bulbs, irises and foxgloves scatter colour for months.

A vegetable garden and orchard are beginning to take shape, including 16 beds of rotating crops and 40 fruit trees.

‘Mareeba’ is both a peaceful and productive garden.

Other points of interest and activities in the local area include:
