This lovely, big rambling garden is located along Post Office Creek which runs through Kyneton.

There are vast lawns, views through walls and hedges, and a superb wisteria tunnel opposite a large meadow garden and a walnut orchard. In the centre of the orchard is a Balinese Hut. Sculptures and fountains are scattered throughout the garden, with enclosed private areas where the owners can just sit and enjoy the ambience. Mature plantings include crab apples lining the walk up the drive, with a Chinese Elm and eucalypt on the other side.

Continually improving areas of the garden is the owner’s passion, which means gardening on Kyneton ‘pug’ – rich in nutrients but very sticky when wet. There are various projects in hand, including developing a fruit cage with both trees and vines, espaliering some fruit trees along the edge of the cage, and further developing the productive vegetable garden.

There is plenty throughout The Wedgewoods to interest and stimulate a garden visitor.

Other garden openings in Kyneton this weekend are:

  • Scotsman’s Hill, Lot 4, 79 Wedge Street
  • Brocklebank, 12 Brocklebank Drive

Garden notes are written by the garden owners to describe their garden.
