The tree lover will be in raptures at Tambreet’s wide range of unusual trees.
The garden owner, Sean, has propagated many of these trees himself. Primitive trees such as Bunya Pines, Gingkos, Sequoias and Dawn Redwoods have room to grow in this 6 acre garden. Rare trees like the American Hackberry, American Ash, Dove tree, the weeping Himalayan Cypress and Chinese Bronze Loquat are dotted throughout the lush acreage beside the Traralgon Creek.
Stone terracing encases the extensive vegie garden. Wear sturdy footwear to explore this forest.
Steep paths and stepped areas along the lake lead the visitor through a wonderland of rainbow colours in autumn.
If you're feeling less energetic grab a coffee and soak up the view from the terrace. A wall of 40 shades of green rises up before you as Sean’s trees give way to the borrowed landscape of forest beyond. It is hard to believe this Gippsland garden was ravaged by fires in the Black Saturday fires of February 2009 and an inspration to see how it's been rejuvenated and in full abundance again.
Please note: there are hand rails on stepped areas and steep paths. There is space for car entry and drop off close to the house for those with access needs.
Some of the proceeds from this opening will be donated to the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre.
Tambreet is located on the lands of the Gunaikurnai people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
