A night of conversation with three Melbourne based Landscape Architects on their projects, design philosophy and reflections on the process of crafting great gardens.
Join us at Bakehouse Recording Studios to hear from Emmaline Bowman (first pic, top row), Phillip Withers (first pic, third row) & Tim Mitchell (first pic, fifth row) for a lively discussion about garden design with an opportunity to ask questions and debate perspectives.
Our speakers have a combined portfolio of projects which span a range of types, styles and geographies from the urban, to the coast and into regional areas of Victoria. Hearing from each on projects and show gardens from their individual practices, this talk will provide landscape designers and home gardeners alike with a range of frameworks to consider the design of landscapes in the contemporary Australian context.
Naturescapes: How to create a natural Australian Garden by Phillip Withers and AB Bishop will be for sale at this event. Photography is by Amelia Stanwix. This book celebrates the local landscape and the natural Australian Garden.
This event will be held at Melbourne’s iconic Bakehouse Studios in Richmond, a cultural icon and hub of creativity. This is an urban oasis in the bustle of the city that has fed into the creative process for many local and internationally renowned musicians. The stunning verdant courtyard, which sits between the recording studios, is a lush retreat for artists and visitors and has been featured on Gardening Australia. The space features an eclectic collection of plants, sprawling across the lower levels and perched on any available surface, peeking out from around corners and even trailing down from planters hanging from above!
There is limited street parking available.
Bakehouse Studios is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri People. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
