It would be hard to find a more beautiful urban setting than this garden overlooking the Yarra River with views to the city skyline.

The overall design is formal with clipped hedging, walls and paths, along with espaliered Fagus and Hornbeam trees. A series of garden ‘rooms’ with a central axis and lawn spread over three levels delightfully contrasts with exotic trees, shrubs, mixed perennial beds, succulents and grasses.

The garden explodes with life in spring, with Iris and Lilacs enhanced by the vibrancy of new foliage on the Maples, Weeping Elms, Fagus, Hornbeams and Virginia creeper.

Around the Gothic Victorian house there are other areas to explore - a delightful courtyard with succulents and a swimming pool, and a productive garden. A dense, very old Muehlenbeckia above the original lychgate adds to the ‘Victorian' feel of this part of the garden.

The garden is being opened for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA), a not-for-profit organisation that supports women affected by breast cancer.

Garden notes are written by the garden owners to describe their garden.
