Fuchsia's garden began 10 years ago on a rented suburban block in Pascoe Vale, simply with a few no-dig beds as a small kitchen garden. It has since ‘exploded’ into something much more comprehensive. Using techniques such as: no dig, hot composting, sheet mulching, swales, stacking of crops over space and time, succession planting, crop rotation, companion planting, seed saving and sharing, rough mulching, creative uses of vertical spaces and permaculture principles like zoning, Fuchsia has created a very full, abundant and well-utilised space.

The garden produces edible flowers, fruit, herbs, veggies and eggs as well as lots of compost which enables the growing of a wide range of plants including some sub-tropicals and local indigenous species. The garden is also home to fish, several worm farms, chooks and a cat.

Fuchsia not only has a long history with productive growing, but permaculture and horticultural qualifications which have enhanced and expanded her growing knowledge. Her garden is a testament to her knowledge and experimental flare with a huge array of plants on show. This tour will not only show you an incredible productive food forest transformation, but teach you new strategies for your own productive space.
