Designed by Alex Cherry from the Ocean Road Landscaping design team, this 160-metre square garden is a must-see for anyone looking for inspiration on how to work with a modern Australian quandary — smaller lots being presented as viable home ownership pathways.

At the garden's entrance, a welcoming, soft, non-conventional driveway leads you into this seaside retreat with an ambience that complements the house's boat shed theme. Home to busy creative people working in the arts, the garden has been designed around work and home life coexisting and the house's relationship with the natural surroundings.

As you wander through this meandering garden, you'll be captivated by the organic forms and rambling pathways that invite you to explore what can be done when you have less room to play with. The tapestry of native and local plants contributes to the garden's unique texture, colour, and form to create a symphony of green, silver and gold.

Peter Shaw will be conducting a talk titled: "Making Good Use of Your Small Space" at 11am on the Saturday. The Landscape Designer, Alex Cherry and the builder for this garden, Tommy Midolo from TM Landscaping, will also be at this opening at the same time on the Saturday. Peter's book will also be for sale: Soulscape: Connecting Gardens to Landscape.

Some of the proceeds from this opening will be donated to the children's charity — Cottage by the Sea.

Pablo's Bloom is located on the lands of the Wadawurrung people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

Extra Activities in the Area:

  • Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff offer a variety of cafes and arts and crafts stores

  • Explore the beach and coastal trails

  • Watch the ships enter and leave Port Phillip Heads
