Set within three acres of temperate rain forest with moss-covered trails along Sassafras Creek, this historic hills garden has a fascinating horticultural history.
Mimosa was originally established circa 1910 as a private summer residence.
The gardens have been progressively enhanced from a rumoured Edna Walling 1930s design and feature an extraordinary and eclectic mix of both native and European trees (many over 100 years old), providing all-year-round greenery with an explosion of colour in spring from the sequential blooming of magnolias, large azaleas, and rhododendrons, alongside a magnificent Paulownia, which will be in full flower.
Mimosa is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
