The minute you step through the front entrance of this cleverly designed garden, you are enveloped in a sense of calm.

The owner is a landscape designer and colour specialist, who has selected a planting palette that creates an artistic backdrop to complement the facade of this pretty Edwardian house. Enjoy the gorgeous early autumn colour at this time of the year.

The principles of Feng Shui have been considered in the design with a striking view to the backyard pond through the house and an enchanting path that winds around the house. An old swimming pool was decommissioned and the backyard transformed into a stunning, shady oasis with a sculptural blend of foliage both overhead and in the understory.

This area has been designed to maximise use of space with sitting and eating areas overlooking the exotic fish pond and water wall feature. A perfect cool spot on a hot day.

Some of the proceeds from this garden will be donated to The Epilepsy Foundation and artist Meredith Stone will be onsite with botanical paintings and eco-dyed works.

Please note: toilets are located nearby at Malvern Central and Central Park Gardens.

Light and Shade is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
