MODERNIST OCEANSIDE

Karkalla is well known landscape designer Fiona Brockhoff’s own 2-acre property (with partner David Swann). It showcases a sustainable garden design with a modernist feel that is situated upon a tertiary dune with stunning Port Philip and Bass Strait views and abutting the Mornington Peninsula National Park.

The garden demonstrates an innovative use of local indigenous plantings in combination with other site suited introduced species.

Here you’ll find a beautifully designed kitchen garden, orchard, wonderful topiary displays, chook house and run and garden for bees as well as a large collection of interesting and carefully sited sculptures.

There’s considered integration of both house and garden spaces that incorporates local materials including limestone feature walls, gravel and pier timbers.

Refreshments and a coffee cart will be at this opening. Fiona's book will be for sale: With Nature.

This opening will be busy so why not carpool it!

A porta loo will be available for emergencies.

Some of the proceeds from this garden opening will be donated to the Peninsula Hospice.

Why not also visit Samantha - another garden designed by Fiona Brockhoff - opening in Portsea over this same weekend.

Karkalla is located on the lands of the Bunurong people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
