This property has a formal entrance, but the surprise happens through a side gate where one enters into a large tranquil garden space that is hidden behind a high fence.

This peaceful side garden has large mature trees that offer shade offset by colourful and coordinated planting underneath.

A large pond is an important part of this garden as is a gazebo amidst the greenery. A discrete sculpture enhances the peaceful feeling of the water and water plants that create a cooling oasis for a hot summer's day.

The large central lawn area gives a feeling of expansiveness not usual in suburban gardens and the deep garden beds flow around this area in a nonformal and relaxing way.

On the other side of the house there is a skillful plantings of Mediterranean plants in the elevated beds beside the driveway and paths, that provide plenty of pollination plants for the beehive nestled in the garden bed

A number of vegie boxes supply the house with summer vegetables and herbs, with numerous seating options to offer a shady reprieve from the sun or a sunny patch on a cooler day.

Some of the proceeds from this opening will be donated to Brighton Rotary.

Karen's Garden is located on the lands of the Bunurong people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

Extra Activities in the Area:

  • Elwood Beach nearby and beach walks
  • Dendy St Beach 10 mins drive
  • North Road Café around corner
  • Middle Brighton pier
  • Church street shops
  • Martin St Cafes
