Alan and Yoka’s garden has evolved from a run-down and overgrown bush block featuring a mission brown mudbrick house to a beautiful and eclectic garden set in a gully amongst the Strzelecki Hills.

Micro-climates, a lot of trial and error, and the challenge of fire, floods and storms have all impacted the constantly evolving design and layout.

The garden features a range of succulents and traditional garden plants arranged in combinations while towering eucalyptus trees retain the original charm. Colour and contrast is achieved year round by a combination of flowers, plant colours and leaf form.  Dry stone terracing has been used extensively to provide paths and overcome steeper parts of the block and the creative use of ornaments feature in the design.

Into the Blue is located on the lands of the Gunaikurnai People. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
