'Heartland' is a personally expressive and experimental garden of 350-400 square meters. This garden is influenced by owner Jac Semmler's great passion for plants, rural childhood, generations of plantswomen and time in Australian landscapes - 'my heart lies in my garden'.
It demonstrates what is possible with a plant-driven approach on a suburban home block. It is an achievable example of what a gardener can squeeze into a house block with a vegie patch, cut flowers, potting shed, chicken coop, and a green wall tucked into the backyard.
Ornamental plantings utilise a broad palette of perennials and annuals, both Australian native and exotic plants. In four years, the garden has transformed from concrete and lawn and is still 'in progress' and developing, as gardens always are.
Why not fit in a second garden visit! We also open Tranquillity over this same weekend in nearby Narre Warren North (only 20 mins away).
Find out about Jac's Planting Tour event on Friday 2 December.
Read more about Jac and her garden in:
Jac will be on hand for short talks on her process and creative approach to gardening.
Saturday talks: 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm
Sunday talks: 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm
There is some street parking, but please be respectful of neighbours. You can also access this garden from Frankston station and local buses. There is no toilet on site, but public toilets in close proximity in central Frankston.
