As the visitor passes through Emu Park’s solid, stone gates they are greeted with an avenue of agapanthus. This leads towards a homestead surrounded by a grand veranda dripping with wisteria.

The garden has beautiful roses and arbours throughout. Ornamental gardens, close to the house, contain colourful cottage plants. Mature Chinese elms, silver birch, apple gums, red gums, a maple walk and a colourful smoke bush are dotted throughout the expansive lawns. Mass planted succulents look quite at home amongst cottage plants.

Leading down towards the stone gate the garden becomes more park-like with oval beds of grasses; kangaroo paws and balls of westringia. Well placed sculptures, slabs of sandstone, lichen covered rocks, log seats and a huge water bowl surrounded by long legged metal birds invite the visitor to wander. Tall sentinels of spotted gums stand guard around the edge of the garden.

Some of the proceeds from this opening will go to support the Emmy Fights All charity.

Extra Activities in the Area:

Emu Park is located on the lands of the Gunaikurnai people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
