Open to the public for the first time since its’ re-development as a private estate in 2004, Delgany was built around 1925 as the holiday residence of Western District grazier Harold Armytage (of Como Toorak).
Built of local and Mount Gambier limestone and set in 3.6 hectares of Heritage listed gardens; Delgany is a haven for owners, native birds and wildlife.
The garden features many mature trees including Cypress, a bosque of Moonahs and Eucalypts in a landscape setting. Sitting high on the hill there are expansive borrowed vistas through to the Bay and to the Ocean beach sand dunes and across Porstea golf course.
Formal gardens surround the Castle building. A mature olive grove and olive hedges around the property provide an annual bounty for owners.
Delgany is classified by the National Trust, listed on the Victorian Heritage Register and has a Heritage Overlay with the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council.
John Patrick was the garden designer and worked there in 2006, 2013 and 2021.
