This wonderful large garden started life as sheep paddocks, but when the Gibson’s arrived in 2004 a garden was a priority.  So began the journey. The main criteria were – drought tolerance and a habitat for birds.

The constraints of the last 16 years were many, droughts, floods, rabbits, roos and locusts, but with good design and hard work, this large garden has evolved into many wonderful spaces with basically native plantings and peaceful places to sit and have a drink and a nibble whilst taking in the surroundings.

Points of interest include:

  • BERYLS DECK overlooking the lake, other spots overlooking sculptures or beautifully planted areas. There is a rose arbour and other rose plantings within the garden and lush green lawn in two areas, a children’s play area complete with a cubby house, a BMX track running through an area of saltbush and  an amazing grass tree planting with most grown from seeds by the owner
  • There is a lot of repeat plantings in hedges and garden beds which gives a sense of balance.
  • This is a garden not only for birds, but for people as there are wonderful seating areas throughout and a sense of being in a garden as well as being in nature.
  • A new white garden has been planted with terraced small white roses and white wisteria growing over a pergola.
  • Most of the plants have been grown from seeds or cuttings from plants that have survived the original plantings.

Extra activities:

  • There will be preserves and wines for sale at this opening.
