Since moving back from Brisbane almost 8 years ago, Alanjohn and Zena have been surprised how underutilised rental properties in Melbourne are when it comes to growing your own food.
Two years ago, the pair moved into their rental with the intention of demonstrating that this form of living doesn't prevent you from utilising your space. They formed a Memorandum of Understanding with the owners and focused on keeping costs down and repurposing materials. This tour will focus on demonstrating not only what can be grown in a suburban rental plot, but how tastefully a grass lawn can be transformed into a fully functioning and vastly expanding urban farm.
