Featuring sustainable design, this is a quirky garden, with its own light aircraft mounted ‘in the air’ as a garden feature. There is also an aeronautical petrol tank which appears as though it has been dropped into the garden from the sky!
Designed and built by Groundswell Designs, the focus has been to create a sustainable garden constructed with locally-sourced stone, reclaimed timber and materials where possible, and mass plantings of hardy, interesting drought-tolerant plants chosen to provide year-round colour and texture.
This includes an abundance of different cacti and succulents as well as herb garden, while Victorian granite, sourced from Port Fairy and Castlemaine, is incorporated into seating around the fire pit and for the fish pond.
As well as the ‘weird and wonderful’ focal points there are two water features, and the garden is a pollen haven for bees.
Finally, the garden has its own bocce bowling area which visitors can use when they attend the opening.
