This is a delightful one-acre garden mounded into several beds at the front to catch water – with plantings of crepe myrtles, a variety of pears, ornamental pomegranates, fruit trees and a stunning forest pansy under a canopy of box and stringy bark.
All of these beautiful trees are underplanted with salvias, euphorbias, spreading cyclamens and hellebores.
The house pergola is covered in a mixture of grape and three types of Parthenossisus with a Magnolia denudata as a feature tree. The back of the house is dedicated to produce and a tiered garden for vegetables and trees, including crab apple, two lilacs and a fish pond.
The driveway entrance from the road is lined with crepe myrtles, native grasses and westringias.
Proceeds from the open garden will be donated to Eltham Rural Group.
Other places of interest which you may wish to visit in the local area include:
- Montsalvat artists’ community www.montsalvat.com.au/
- Local wineries (including Panton Hill, Olivigna and Massaros) and wider area vineyards
- Eltham Community Craft & Produce Market; Eltham Farmers’ Market
