The garden is beautifully laid out amidst a large expanse of lawn, with winding paths taking the visitor to secret places.

The first of these is the front garden with its traditional plantings of camellias, roses, hydrangeas, perennials e.g. salvias, grasses and bulbs.

The rear section of the garden has a more formal approach, including an area reminiscent of the garden of Cloudehill. Here there's a pond surrounded by bluestone paving, edged with ground covers, hydrangea and Malus trees. The final section of the garden is more tropical in its feel with canna lilies, gardenias and a large palm.

Two majestic and aged eucalypts dominate the garden space.

The rear garden was designed by Prue Metcalfe in 2016.

Alvie Lodge is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri People. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
