This is an Australian Native Garden, which was first planted in a cow paddock in 2011 after the completion of the house build. The garden backs onto a reserve of Mahogany gums, Coastal Wattles, and Boobialla.

The garden owners’ overall concept was to plant native species — to have no annual flowers, but native grasses, flowering ground covers, and bushes all for minimal garden maintenance.

There is no fencing on the south side of the house, which is open to the Council Reserve. This gives the pleasure of a larger vista and the enjoyment of many visiting birds and creatures.

The garden is subject to strong southwest winds, so a mound was created on the south side of the house to plant shrubs for screening and shelter.

The west side of the house has a planting of grafted flowering gums and small trees to protect the house from the west sun and to provide a shaded open space for table and chairs.

Visit two other nearby gardens in Inverloch. Details here.

Extra activities in the area:

Lovely beaches, a variety of cafes and restaurants, lots of park and, nature walks.

8 Jazmine Court is located on the lands of the Bunurong people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
