Warooka enjoys a great setting amidst the Dandenong Ranges National Park opposite the property, with a ‘borrowed’ treed-landscape all around.
The owner of this garden ‘just loves plants’ and has always been fascinated by Australian flora, especially challenging WA varieties, which are used to great effect throughout. They are beautifully-maintained and often group-planted – very floriferous and colourful in Spring.
A quite steep slope has been skilfully-handled – with steps, boardwalk and broad sweeping landscaping. Beautifully-linked pools fit as if they were naturally-formed between large rocks (which are in fact all man-made by the owner – a real point of unusual interest).
The large rear garden is a mix of some spectacular Australian plants as well as South African plants and bulbs, which naturally grow well in similar conditions to Australian plants. There are lots of plants in containers everywhere – all of which are arranged brilliantly.
For our visitors there are plenty of open, inviting spaces to sit and look out – and a professional-looking propagating area.
Garden notes are written by the garden owners to describe their garden.
