This is truly a plant lover’s garden and a wonderful example of the diversity that can be achieved in a beachside environment.

The steep paved entrance driveway is flanked by garden beds filled with various blue, white and green toned plants which complement the pleached olives along the fenceline screening the adjacent properties. New Bursarias have also been established along the drive for their white, highly scented flowers in summer.

At the top stand the 250 year old Moonah trees that are the sculptural highlight of the garden, under which shade-tolerant plants have been established. A garden room with plantings such as Japanese honeysuckle, tree begonias, Vireya rhododendrons, orchids, gardenias and ferns lies at the end of the pool.

The rear garden is filled with pots and plants of all shapes and sizes and clever sculptural pieces including a very unique side gate. There is an enclosed productive courtyard with a mandarin and potting shed area filled with edible delights including vegetables, herbs and blueberries. From the deck in the back garden are incredible views over the Sorrento golf course.

Other activities and places of interest in the local area include:

  • Portsea Hotel and local shops and cafes
  • Shopping in Ocean Beach Road, Sorrento
  • Searoad Ferry – Queenscliff to Sorrento
  • Portsea and Sorrento – front and back beaches
  • Sorrento Museum
  • Visit Point Nepean National Park
