This cleverly designed garden by Andrew Laidlaw shows how a smaller urban space can be crafted to create a private oasis that feels inviting at any time of the year.

The garden comprises four distinct outdoor courtyards, all with a strong connection to the house and linked by large shards of stone paving. A beautiful reflection pond is a highlight.

Deciduous trees have been used to maximise winter light, while textured and often bold and contrasting foliage plants create restful spaces. Winter-flowering plants have been selected for seasonal interest and scent, and boundary plantings of bamboo are an excellent screen from the neighbouring units.

Well known landscape architect Andrew Laidlaw will give a talk – 'Designing the Winter Garden' – each day at 11.30am.

Proceeds from the opening will benefit Global Gardens of Peace – an Australian charity founded by Moira Kelly AO in 2013. The aim of Global Gardens of Peace is to design and deliver living landscapes as a foundation to support vulnerable communities around the world.
