This garden encompasses a three-quarter acre site, with beds either side of a sweeping lawn leading down to fruit trees, a vegetable garden and pool area. The beds are mostly natives including correas, eremophilas, grevilleas, banksias and prosthantheras, with some ornamental pears, a ginkgo and a Japanese pagoda tree. At the bottom, a pond is surrounded by grasses and citrus trees. The pool, shaded by a linden tree, divides the garden, leading to an area with roses and other flowering plants. From the house’s verandah you overlook pastures with city views in the distance.

Two of the Gardenettes www.thegardenettes.com.au – Melissa King from ABC Gardening Australia, and Chloe Thompson from The Garden Gurus – will conduct a Q & A session from 12.00 to 1.00 pm on Sunday 7 May.

A.B. Bishop, co-author of The Australian Native Garden with Angus Stewart, will be dropping in over the weekend and the book will be available for sale.

There will also be:

  • Refreshments for sale
  • Plants and local produce for sale
  • Steel and ceramic artisans on site
  • Local wine on site
  • Children's activities provided

The garden opening is supporting the Eltham Men's Shed
