Pressed flower Christmas cards
Our Kids Corner contributor, Jane Byrne, has come up with another fab idea for Christmas
Pressed Flower Christmas Cards is a great activity to get your kids or grandkids involved in.
Pick a colourful selection of any flowers from your garden and place them in the middle pages of a thick book, lined with baking paper, or flower press. Be patient! It can take two weeks to a month for your flowers to dry out so get started now so they are ready to paste onto cards prior to Christmas.
You can read detailed instructions on pressing flowers via this link:
Purchase any pack of cards and envelopes and Kmart have cheap options!
Make sure you handle your flowers very carefully when removing flowers from your book or flower press because they are very delicate! Also, use minimal glue so that it doesn’t show through the delicate petals when pasting onto your cards. I like to also embellish Christmas designs using a black fine liner or using stamps and ink pads.
What you will need:
- Pressed flowers
- Glue PVA
- Cards with envelopes
- Fine liners
- Stamps with ink pad
Remember to send in your creations to operations@opengardensvictoria.org.au
