Instagam Live - 'A Walk in the Garden' with Attila Kapitany

Click on the link above to watch the video recording of host Stephen Read chatting with Attila Kapitany on Saturday 29 August as he tours his extraordinary succulent garden in Narre Warren North.

They have a wonderful look at some very interesting plant combinations: Bottle Trees, aloes, aeonium and the very spiky ceiba.

Established progressively over the past 18 years on a 0.4 hectare house block, the garden is enclosed by a boundary hedge of conifers and opens out to a view over a large ornamental lake.

Attila and Michele Kapitany have adapted their gardening and planting strategies over the years to deal with the difficult challenges of a sloping site and nutrient deficient soils. The result has been a garden entirely devoted towards a diverse range of water-wise plants such as succulents, native trees and shrubs, flaxes and grasses. Incredibly, most of the 10,000-odd plants in the garden have been grown from seeds or cuttings raised by Attila and Michele.

If you want to see even more, Attila and his garden featured the night before our video tour on the ABC's  Gardening Australia - view the link here.
